The Sardinians desert the polls . At 7pm there was a flop turnout on the island: with 28.98%, Sardinia is Italy's black jersey at the European elections (hot on the heels of its "twin" of the Islands constituency, Sicily with 29.06%), with 47 .5% to administrative ones.
In Italy the turnout of voters in the European elections stands at 40.8%, again provisional data from 7pm. In the North West constituency the highest (47.64%), in the North East 45.48%, Center 43.31% , South 33.40%, Islands 29.04%. On the island the driving force comes from the larger cities: Cagliari with 33.61% and Sassari with 32.66%. South Sardinia follows at a distance with 24.25%, Oristano with 23.81 and Nuoro with 22.66%.
The polls are open until 11pm to elect the 76 MEPs (8 in the Islands constituency) and, in Sardinia, 27 mayors.
In the municipal elections, the turnout figure is higher, but the island remains at the rear: at 7pm, 47.56% of those entitled to vote in Sardinia, 53.66% in Italy.
The turnout by province in the administrative elections : the highest in Nuoro 59.86%, then Southern Sardinia 52.45%, Sassari 49.15%, Oristano 48.39%, and Cagliari 44.84%. In the five municipalities with more than 15 thousand inhabitants where a possible run-off is expected on 23 and 24 June, the highest turnout was recorded in Sinnai (46.46), followed by Monserrato (46.05).
In addition to the five main municipalities already mentioned (where if no one gets 50% +1 of the votes there will be a run-off between the two most voted on 22 and 23 June), these are the other centers voting: Onanì, Ortueri, Sarule, Villagrande Strisaili, Bosa, Magomadas, Sini, Sorradile, Castelsardo, Golfo Aranci, Illorai, Putifigari, Sorso, Villanova Monteleone, Calasetta, Esterzili, Genoni, Guasila, Samatzai, San Gavino Monreale, Sant'Anna Arresi, Serrenti.
Five with a single candidate who only needed to exceed the 40% quorum to obtain election: in Golfo Aranci, Villanova Monteleone, Villagrande Strisaili, Ortueri and Serrenti , mayors already elected .
