After the first, massive film adaptation edited by Denis Villeneuve known as “Dunes: Part 1” - which despite its limited numbers at the box office was positively received by critics and fans of Frank Herbert 's original work, above all for its high visual impact - the second chapter is currently being worked on, due out on November 3rd , again set in the imaginative world of Arrakis and with the inevitable body of characters that from the novel to its transposition we have come to know.

Precisely on this last aspect, the director would have anticipated a surprising turning point on the character of Lady Jessica : in fact, considering her marginal presence in the second half of the novel, Villeneuve would like to make sure that she can have a more relevant weight in the sequel.

Here are his specific statements: «Lady Jessica disappears a bit in the second part of the book and for this reason I made sure, while writing the screenplay, to do the opposite, to make sure that she had an active role and that she returned to the center of the story. history. I can't wait for the world to see what Rebecca has accomplished. Not afraid to go far. He's a force I can count on."

And with respect to the approach of Rebecca Freguson , interpreter of the aforementioned role, the director added: «She loves having fun. It's important for her to enjoy the moment lightly, make jokes, and make sure everyone feels comfortable. He wants everyone to feel safe at all times."

Even the actress recently expressed her experience on the set: "Running on the sand dunes ... feeling so small on these incredible hills. How small are we compared to Mother Nature? I love it".

With the young and charismatic Timothée Chalamet in the role of Paul Atreides , the cast will also return Zendaya in the role of Chani, Josh Brolin in the role of Gurney Halleck and Javier Bardem in those of Stilgar .

Among the new appearances there will instead be Florence Pugh called to play Princess Irulan, Austin Butler for Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen and Christopher Walker for Emperor Shaddam IV.

The first official trailer was released last May, which in addition to showing the protagonists introduces the characters of Florence Pugh and Austin Butler for the first time.

In this new chapter, Paul and his mother Lady Jessica will side with the Fremen to exact revenge against those who destroyed their family. A more massive presence of Chani's character would also seem to be confirmed, considering her more limited presence in the first film. Given the quality of the first film and the enormous potential available for this ambitious sequel, all that remains is to wait confidently.
