Thirteen million euros to provide answers to Sardinian agricultural companies (particularly fruit and vegetable, wine, cereal, olive) affected this year by drought . "A first great result", underlines in a press release Coldiretti Sardegna, "after months of protests, negotiations and demonstrations, culminating with the mobilizations of thousands of farmers and breeders between June 17 and July 11". But, the association immediately reiterates, "this is only the starting point. The delays accumulated in the implementation of aid have worsened the situation of many companies, some of which have seen their continuity compromised. Now it is essential that the institutions do not lower their guard and work to expand the financial resources, ensuring adequate support for all the affected sectors".
Cualbu and Saba – «We cannot stop here», highlights the president of Coldiretti Sardegna Battista Cualbu . «It is necessary to recalculate the figures upwards in order to support all the sectors involved and guarantee the future of those who have chosen to remain in the countryside, despite the difficulties». «This intervention is a breath of fresh air for many companies that were at risk of not making it», echoes the director Luca Saba , «but the emergency is not yet resolved».
The interventions – In detail, the intervention of the Region provides for the granting of compensation to companies active in primary agricultural production for the damage caused by the drought that hit Sardinia in the spring and summer of 2024. The aid is divided as follows: 4.5 million euros for damage to the production of agricultural companies falling within the Posada irrigation sub-district; 3 million euros for the Ogliastra irrigation district; 5.5 million for the remaining regional territory. According to a reading by Coldiretti Sardegna, «there will probably still be some financial residues not spent on the measures for the irrigation districts, so new funds could easily be transferred to this allocation». The affected territory was delimited following the analyses conducted by the Laore Agency, responsible for managing the intervention. The maximum compensation will be calculated considering the damaged company surfaces and the value of the unit production per hectare, on the basis of official Crea data (Council for Agricultural Research and Analysis of the Agricultural Economy).
