Disaronno Group has acquired Zedda Piras, the famous Sardinian myrtle brand.
A transaction announced last December and now closed. Disaronno, owner of the iconic Amaretto and the historic Sicilian wines Florio and Duca di Salaparuta, among others, has acquired 100% of Zedda Piras and Amaro Averna, formerly owned by Campari Group, for €100 million.
The transaction resulted in the establishment of a new company, Meridia, based in Sassari, with governance transferred from Campari to Disaronno. The employees of the two plants in Sicily and Sardinia were all absorbed by Meridia.
"This transaction represents a key step in our growth plan and allows us to strategically enrich our international portfolio, significantly strengthening our position in three of our priority markets: the United States, Germany, and Italy, thanks to Amaro Averna. In this context, Zedda Piras' goal is to consolidate its presence in the Italian market," commented Marco Ferrari, CEO of Disaronno Group, in a statement.
