It's a particularly positive phase that Jeremy Allen White is going through right now. The thirty-three-year-old actor has shown his talent since 2011 with the character of Lip Gallagher in the TV series "Shameless", but it was necessary to wait another ten years for his definitive consecration among the promises of the new Hollywood star system.
With the release of "The Bear", the star obtained some of the most important international awards for his role as chef Carmine Berzatto : two Golden Globes, two Critics Choice Awards and an Emmy award. This year he once again impressed audiences as wrestler Kerry Von Erich in Sean Durkin's “Warrior - The Iron Claw”. It is therefore not surprising that proposals for other important collaborations are starting to become more and more insistent.
In this regard, the official announcement of the biopic on the life of Bruce Springsteen "Deliver Me From Nowhere" dates back to last March, a project written and directed by Scott Cooper to tell in detail the genesis of the legendary album released in 1982 "Nebraska", considered among the greatest successes of the American singer-songwriter and placed in 150th position among the 500 best records of all time according to Rolling Stone magazine. The financing and distribution of the film will be handled by 20th Century Fox, while Jeremy Allen White will interpret the movements and unmistakable voice of the Boss, for the first time dealing with a biographical film as a leading actor.
The era of the album marks a very specific phase in Springsteen's life, who chose to make an intimate, minimalist album on a four-track recorder to face his inner demons and rise in the music world. With filming scheduled for this fall, White confirmed his availability on set after completing filming seasons three and four of “The Bear” in June. On the work that awaits him, the actor released a statement to Variety during the red carpet presentation of "The Bear 3". In addition to revealing that he has not yet met Springsteen in person, White expresses his confidence in the creative process, which is essential to giving shape to the character: «We have communicated a little through other people, but I hope that everything continues to work. We still have some things to decide, we need to work out the timing and I'm trying to create my own process before I meet the man I'm going to play. I want to find a key to understanding it, so when I meet him I will have some confidence in myself."
Last but not least, the star confirmed that she will use her own voice for the singing parts: «I'll try. I will do my best". As can be seen from the title, the inspiration for the film comes from Warren Zane's 2023 biographical text “Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska”. By delving into the artistic journey of the musical star and the stages of creation that gave life to the album, the book motivated producer Eric Robinson to make the biopic. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein was later also involved in the project, as well as the support of Scott Cooper and Springsteen himself. Among the other performers who will join White we will find Paul Walter Hauser, the American actor and comedian who will also participate in the next Marvel film “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”. The star has been confirmed for the role of Mike Batlan, a trusted technician who has supported Springsteen since the dawn of his musical training in the early 80s. In addition to having been fundamental at the beginning, Batlan is remembered for having created an entire studio of recording in the songwriter's bedroom in New Jersey.
