Deaths at work, Sardinia "white zone"
The sector with the highest number of victims is construction, with accidents especially on Mondays

Sardinia, together with Tuscany, Lombardy and Liguria, is considered a "white zone" as regards the emergency white deaths in Italy. 2021 records a dramatic average with almost 100 victims per month and from January to August, according to data from the Vega Engineering observatory, there are already 772. Of these, 10 percent are women.
At the top of the sad ranking are Puglia, Campania, Trentino Alto Adige, Basilicata, Umbria, Molise, Abruzzo and Valle d'Aosta, all considered "red zone", followed by (orange zone) Piedmont, Marche and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Yellow zone instead for Lazio, Calabria, Emilia Romagna, Sicily and Veneto.
"The news of the last two days - underlines Mauro Rossato, president of the Vega Engineering Occupational Safety Observatory in Mestre - has unfortunately catapulted us into the bleeding heart of the white dead emergency in our country: in two days there have been over ten victims from North to South of the country. And the confirmation of the dramatic state of this plague comes with the latest data on the number of deaths from January to August: 772 victims in 2021. Gruesome numbers that provide statistics with a dramatic monthly average of mortality: almost 100 victims . 10% are women: mothers, daughters, wives and sisters torn from their families ".
THE NUMBERS - From January to August 2021, deaths recorded in Campania are 72, second only to Lombardy which has 73. Followed by: Lazio (60), Piedmont (58), Emilia Romagna (53), Puglia (52), Veneto (48), Sicily (30), Tuscany (28), Abruzzo (27), Trentino Alto Adige and Marche (17), Friuli Venezia Giulia and Umbria (15), Molise and Liguria (12), Calabria (11), Sardinia (9), Basilicata (8), Valle D'Aosta (3).
And it is the construction sector that counts the highest number of victims since the beginning of the year (72).
This is followed by manufacturing (60), transport and warehousing (58 victims since the beginning of the year), trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (40), public administration and defense (18).
The age group most affected by fatal accidents at work is between 45 and 64 (442 out of a total of 620). Monday is confirmed as the day in which the greatest number of injuries occurred in the first eight months of the year.
