Davis Cup final day. Italy is dreaming of a hat-trick and is preparing for the match against Spain. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will be missing, but the same players who faced off in the finals of the last three Grand Slams and the ATP Finals will be in Bologna. The first singles match between Berrettini and Carreno Busta ended with the Italian's victory 6-3, 6-4, followed by Cobolli against Munar. In the doubles match, the match will be between Bolelli and Vavassori and Granollers and Martinez.
"I think we have more reason than anyone else to win today," said Federtennis president Angelo Binaghi. "This is the first time in 25 years that Nicola (Pietrangeli, ed.) isn't with us."
"Nicola is the history of the Davis Cup in Italy and the player, as you know, who has played the most matches in the world in this competition." Nicola, Binaghi added, "is the Davis Cup for us and for the rest of the world, and we would like to give him the strength to ensure he's back with us next year, fighting alongside the boys."
