Giacomo Cao was confirmed as sole director for another 3 years at the helm of CRS4. The professor of the mechanical, chemical and materials engineering department of the University of Cagliari and president of the aerospace district of Sardinia (DASS), received the trust of the shareholders of the Center which met to approve the company's financial statements. , in the presence of the sole shareholder Sardegna Ricerche represented by the general manager Maria Assunta Serra.

Cao retraced the main achievements of the mandate that was conferred on him on 9 July 2021: 47 collaboration agreements signed for free, including the one stipulated with the Association "Sardinia towards UNESCO" for the recognition the nuraghi as a heritage of humanity; 61 contracts signed for projects and services, for a total value of 4,252,810 euros; 98 scientific articles, conference proceedings and book chapters published or in course of publication, of which 8 signed by the same administrator, in prestigious international scientific journals; 2 patent applications filed, one of which has the administrator among the inventors; 2 registered trademarks; 32 press releases; 875 releases in local, national and international media; 16 historical temporary workers hired for an indefinite period; implementation of the first performance plan in the history of CRS4 starting from the year 2022. And again: restructuring of the company organization chart to improve its effectiveness and management efficiency; professional analysis of the phenomenon of work-related stress; participation in the Dubai Expo 2021-2022 with an interactive wall owned by the Center located in the Italian pavilion; 5 million euro investment for the renewal of the computational infrastructure; activation of a research and development program in the field of quantum computers; activation of the “aerospace and digital technologies” research sector; creation of an advisory board with a high technical and scientific profile at an international level.

“I sincerely thank the president of the Sardinia Region Christian Solinas and Sardegna Ricerche for appreciating the work done in these first two years - said the sole administrator -. I am happy to be able to continue in the mandate to reach important goals with particular reference to technologies related to quantum computers and the exploration of deep space that will have an exponential growth in the coming decades. I would also like to underline that in recent months CRS4 has participated in the submission of research and development projects for a total value of over 550 million euros, which will be able to make a significant contribution to the growth of the Center ”.

The research center, which aims to promote the study, development and application of innovative solutions to problems from natural, social and industrial environments, has its headquarters in Pula .
