"Despite the statements by Volotea who say they are not interested, we hope that at least one of the carriers invited by the Region to participate in the negotiated procedure for continuity in Alghero will come forward and that tickets for the flights will soon be put on sale".

This was stated by the general secretary of Uiltrasporti Sardegna William Zonca and the regional secretary Elisabetta Manca, who however say they are "very worried" by the fact that the carriers have deserted the previous tender.

«It is absolutely necessary to understand the reasons in order to avoid the recurrence of the same problem in 18 months - the trade unionists are pressing -. If it is almost certain that Alghero, like the other airports on the island, will have guaranteed continuous flights from 17 February, there is no doubt that the request forwarded by Sogeaal to the trade union organizations to find corrective measures for their work organization is unrelated to issue of territorial continuity.

Zonca and Manca ask the Region to "support Sogeaal's work through investments and structural interventions that allow effective growth of the airport and greater development of the entire north-western territory of the island".
