Sport is presented not only as a competition but also as a reflection of society, culture, and stories of great passions. ASI Sardinia, a social and sports promotion organization, is organizing the fourth edition of the "Ideario Sport" Sports Book Festival in collaboration with the Ideario cultural association. The festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, CONI Sardinia, and USSI Sardinia, and is under the artistic direction of Cagliari-born journalist Fabio Meloni.
The first leg of the festival, created to explore and highlight the themes and events surrounding sports literature, will be held in Cagliari with two events scheduled for May 22nd and June 2nd, both at 6:30 pm, at Sa Manifattura (Viale Regina Margherita 33).
The first meeting, "Beyond Models: New Ideas for Training," scheduled for Friday, May 22, will feature Alessandro Donati, CONI Master of Sport and a leading figure in the debate on sports ethics and the fight against doping, and Francesco Marcello, professor of Sports Science and track and field coach. The two authors will present the book "Training Differently, for a Healthy and High-Performing Sport " (Bur Rizzoli) and will discuss, together with Fabio Meloni, new training models for coaches, professional athletes, and amateurs, designed to transcend the logic of instant results and the shortcuts associated with doping. Donati and Marcello will present a paradigm shift through a methodology that combines excellent competitive performance with health protection and sports ethics.
On Thursday, May 21st, at 11:30 a.m., the authors will be in Nuoro, in the Aula Magna of the Fermi Scientific High School.
The second event, "Cagliari and Claudio Ranieri: A Love Story," scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, will feature the presentation of the book "Claudio Ranieri in Rossoblù: The Five Seasons of King Midas" (GIA editrice), written by journalists Bruno Corda and Luca Granella. Together with Claudio Ranieri, they will retrace the most exciting moments of that sporting fairytale that, between 1988 and 1991, led to two consecutive promotions from Serie C1 to Serie A and the victory of the Coppa Italia in Serie C in 1989, up until the return in 2022 with promotion from Serie B to Serie A and the farewell in 2024. They will be introduced by journalist Giorgio Ariu.
"Confirming our presence for the fourth consecutive year is already a success, strengthened by the trust of so many leading figures in the world of culture and sport who have chosen to showcase their work within the festival," emphasizes Fabio Meloni, the festival's artistic director. "For too long, sports literature has been neglected and undervalued. The festival aims to contribute to its growth and welcomes the increased attention it has received in recent years from the publishing world and television channels. Ideario Sport's events go beyond the technical feats or achievements of the protagonists. The pages of sports books offer opportunities for debate and education on current and socially relevant issues."
