The most famous and pioneer was Victor Borge, a Danish pianist and comedian. Since then, other artists around the world have combined classical music and comic gags.
One of the best known in Italy is the Duo Baldo , composed of the American violinist Brad Repp and the pianist Aldo Gentileschi . Their concert is scheduled for Friday at the Teatro Verdi in Sassari (starting at 8:30 pm) as part of the concert season “ Grandi Interpreti della Musica”, organized by the Cooperativa Teatro e/o Musica.
The Baldo Duo combines "serious" music played seriously with talent to comedy, with explosive gags on stage. A mix that has conquered the Italian and international audience.
The first important success of the Duo Baldo dates back to 2004 when the duo was invited by the “Fondazione Arpa” to accompany the tenor Andrea Bocelli. They subsequently performed in Italy and abroad, treading prestigious stages such as the Salzburg Festival, the Musashino Cultural Foundation in Tokyo, the Shanghai Concert Hall.
The Baldo duo participated in the Pax Mundi maxi-concert in memory of Pope John Paul II broadcast by Rai 2 and achieved great success on the program “Tu Si Que Vales” on Canale5. The violinist Repp plays a prestigious Testore violin from 1736.
