The month of August in Castelsardo promises to be crackling, like the famous fires of August . The program of events is proposed by the municipal administration and by the Pro-loco.
Every weekend, from Friday to Sunday, the Piazza Nuova will be animated by the evening market of the artisans. While every Thursday, on the Lu Bagnu cycle and pedestrian path, there will be an evening with music and games dedicated to children.
On 13 August the Ampurias Dance Festival changes location: for logistical reasons it will take place in the parking lots in via Sedini (in front of the sports field) and not in the square of the Blue Flag beach.
On 15 August one of the main events of the tourist season: the night of the fires . Thousands of tourists and visitors are expected. From 10pm in Piazza Nuova the DJ set Alex Mas - Dj Paps will come to life. At midnight the great and evocative fireworks display from the Doria Castle. Following the famous "violinist of Italy" Mark Lanzetta. The evening will be accompanied by vocalist Alex Z. On August 17th (piazza Nuova at 10pm) it will be the turn of “Rewind”, a revival of the 90s, with DJ Fabrizio Ferrari of RTL 102.5.
On 19, 20 and 21 August the jazz festival "Musica sui Bocche" , concentrated in the historic city center, stops in Castelsardo. On Friday 19 August, 6.30 pm, Christina Ruf will perform on the cello in the churchyard of the Cathedral. At 8.30 pm, in Piazza Misericordia, performance by Roberto Ottaviano on sax and Alexander Hawkins on piano. At 9.15 pm, in the Sala XI terrace, concerts by Nils Petter Molvaer Quartet.
At 10.30 pm, in the stairway towards the Castle, jam session.
Saturday 20 August , 6 am, in the historic center, “Su Cuncordu di Cheremule”. In the evening at 6 pm, in the churchyard of the Cathedral, Salvatore Maltana can be admired on the double bass. At 7 pm, in the historic center, it will be possible to observe the Tumbarinos of Gavoi. At 7.30 pm, in Piazza Misericordia, a concert by Stefano Nosei. At 9.15 pm, on the terrace of Room XI another concert: that of the Trygve Seim Quartet. At 10.30 pm, along the steps towards the Castle, young Sardinian jazz talents can be heard.
The program for Sunday 21 August is also rich. At 6 a concert on the piano by Fabio Giachino. At 9.15 pm, on the terrace Room XI "Mystic Geography". At 10.30 pm, the Electronic Night DJ set will brighten the evening along the staircase towards the Castle.
Saturday 27 August again revival with "But what do they know the 2000": evening with DJ in the square. The second meeting of the season with Dr. Lorenzo Braina will be held on August 30th at the Fontana Vecchia. On August 31st we still dance in the square with Gianluca Pittalis.
