A cruel and poetic love story for Carola Puddu, protagonist in the role of the Black Swan , alongside Roberta De Simone, in the role of the White Swan, of “Swan Lake, or the Song” of the Balletto di Roma, with choreography and directed by Fabrizio Monteverde, which intertwines the plot of the famous ballet with music by Pëtr Il'ič Tchaikovsky with the suggestions of “The Swan Song” by Anton Čechov for an intriguing game of mirrors between life and art.

The heartbreaking love story between Prince Siegfried and the beautiful Princess Odette, transformed into a swan under a spell by the magician Rothbart, and the theme of the double embodied by Odile, the magician's daughter, who takes on the appearance of Odette, lives on the stage in the interpretation of «a company of 'elderly' dancers who, between the toil of a vanished youth and the neurotic search for a happy ending, retrace the acts of a further, 'inevitable Lake': condemned to a perennial metamorphosis, a woman in half between good and evil, Odette/Odile will be swan and princess, good and cruel, faithful lover and mocking rival – explains Fabrizio Monteverde – Metaphor of an art that knows no goal, it will seek itself in a tormented journey of love, betrayal, imprisonment and liberation. In a theater where everything begins and nothing ever ends - concludes the famous author and choreographer - he will encounter the worn out rags of an artist's life with the white spirit of a forever young Venus".

To the delight of the enthusiasts and the many fans of Carola Puddu, the artistic director of Cedac Sardegna, Valeria Ciabattoni, has organised, on Sunday 26 November at 11am in the Foyer of the Teatro Massimo, the presentation of the book "1960 Passi danza" by journalist Carmela Piccione on the history of the Rome Ballet.

Between testimonies, memories and interviews, the volume retraces the first sixty years of the company founded in 1960 by Franca Bartolomei and Walter Zappolini: an artistic and human adventure that still continues with the direction of Luciano Carratoni.

Speakers at the meeting, organized thanks to the collaboration with ASMED Balletto di Sardegna, will be the author Carmela Piccione and Luciano Carratoni, general director of the Balletto di Roma, together with Carola Puddu, Roberta De Simone and all the dancers of the company.
