“I don't like making proclamations, I'm someone who looks after the facts”.

This is reiterated by Walter Mazzarri, the new Cagliari coach , called to replace Leonardo Semplici after only three days of the championship.

"The club has clear ideas - explained the Tuscan coach, former Napoli and Inter Milan in his first statements released by the rossoblù club - and as I know the Cagliari fans want to see a team that never gives up and a coach who is always on track. I think I embody this spirit ”.

"The players - added Mazzarri - must not limit themselves and therefore also know how to be ambitious".

On the first match that will see him sit on the bench, against Lazio at the Olimpico, the coach underlined: “When a coach arrives in the race on the eve of an important appointment he inevitably feels the responsibility and wants to give his mark. I'm sorry I don't have time to make the players understand everything I have in mind ”.

Mazzarri then recalled his brief past as a player with the rossoblù shirt (in 1982, 4 games, one goal): “I was a young under 21 and I came from Fiorentina. I was short and I'm sorry, because I found an ideal environment and I still have wonderful memories ”.
