Almost two weeks have passed since the end of the transfer market, and with the break for the national teams also over, Cagliari is ready to resume with the match on Sunday at 18:00 against Napoli. At the Domus, this afternoon, the sporting director Nereo Bonato showed up for an assessment of the transfer campaign: « We are satisfied with the Cagliari market », the message he sends to the whole environment. «The objective is, obviously, safety: all the boys with good prospects have arrived, aimed at the coach's project. We have not missed any objective, all those pursued have been achieved. It seems like a balanced squad».

The movements. After having ruled out any further additions by resorting to free agents, Bonato looks at what has been done: «This is Cagliari. It was a very long and tiring market, we built the basic backbone of the team in this growth path». All with the desire to accommodate the requests of coach Davide Nicola: « We have taken people who guarantee us an aggressive game ». Ibrahim Sulemana left, sacrificed essentially for budgetary reasons that did not allow for any other choice, but the line taken at the beginning of the session was respected: «Gaetano's return was tiring, but we knew he wanted to come back. The arrivals of Luperto and Palomino give us great balance at the back. There is a lot of work needed, eight additions have arrived with six exits plus three people like Nández, Mancosu and Aresti whose contract renewals have not arrived ».

The championship. Two draws and a defeat in the three matchdays before the break were certainly not what Cagliari expected («Of course we are missing a few points, at the start of this championship»). But Bonato, not worried by the sprint starts of two direct competitors like Udinese and Verona («They don't surprise us, they continued the path they started last year»), is sure that starting from Sunday the rossoblù will be able to make a good impression: « It will be a very difficult match, after the initial drama Napoli has won two out of two and is planning to win three in Cagliari, but we have to play our game ».
