Much more than a simple memory, but the profound celebration of Cagliari during the Belle Époque starting from one of its protagonists, namely Ottone Bacaredda , the mayor par excellence of Cagliari .

"Ottone Bacaredda and the dream of the new city. Cagliari between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries" is the new project of the Department of Culture and Entertainment of the Municipality of Cagliari, a set of initiatives that will take place from 4 to 26 December focused on the work of Bacaredda , multifaceted intellectual, cultured politician and lover of poetry who led the capital for five legislatures between the end of the 19th century and the first decade of the 20th century.

The project, presented this morning in the Sala del Retablo at Palazzo Bacaredda in via Roma in Cagliari, will consist of multiple events organized both by the municipal administration and by the associations. Visual arts exhibitions, projections of historical images but also workshops for the little ones, conferences and guided tours : there will be numerous activities scheduled for an initiative where memory, culture and enhancement of Cagliari's symbolic places come together to create a rich whole of proposals.

"With this initiative we want to bring young people closer to the figure of one of the most significant characters in the history of our city", underlined the mayor Paolo Truzzu , "a brilliant personality capable of understanding the need for change in society". A company that has its roots in the past to project itself towards the future.

"We want to make the people of Cagliari relive the atmosphere of that period", concluded the councilor for culture Maria Dolores Picciau , "to ensure that they grasp the charm of a phase of history full of stimuli and innovations".
