Now the first confirmations are in. For a few weeks, the news had been bouncing from social media to major newspapers. Yesterday afternoon, the turning point came: sporting director Guido Angelozzi and Cagliari have definitively parted ways.
The official announcement will be made in the next few hours. This divorce comes without any stomachache, between friends who have realized they want something different. Cremonese is pushing hard for Angelozzi (though the manager wants a three-year contract), whose revamp will allow the Sicilian director to get back in the game and try to climb back up to Serie A with the recently relegated Grisorossi.
On the horizon (although the list of names being considered could be larger), there's a young player who's ambitious or looking to relaunch his career. Pietro Accardi, 43, still tied to Sampdoria, is considered the frontrunner for the succession. Just below him is Davide Vaira , who recently ended his contract with Pisa.
