From Thursday until Saturday, the town becomes a beating heart of identity and unity among peoples, with the 33rd International Folk Festival, a meeting of popular dances and traditions. This event, promoted by the Ortachis Folk Group and included in the major events of the Regional Department of Tourism, opens Thursday with the show "Non solo danze," featuring performances by the ethnic groups "Fantasias de Ballos" and "Su Cunzertu Antigu" in the Bastione San Pietro.
The Festival continues on Friday, kicking off with a presentation in the square, followed by folk groups from Nuoro, Fonni, and Paulitano, the Italian Flag-Wavers League, and representatives from Chile, Mexico, and Austria. The final stage is on Saturday, with a parade of groups through the local streets, before the grand evening hosted by Daniela Astara with guests from Benin, Taiwan, Colombia, Ireland, and Slovakia. Also present will be Tenor Silanesu, the Sartiglia Trumpeters, the Sestu masks, and the Villanova Strisaili and Florinas groups. Starting at 1:00 AM, the variety show dedicated to young people will feature national artists Madman and DJ Damianito.
Antonello Zolo, President of the Ortachis Folk Group, said: "We need to emphasize a "country system" where hospitality is the founding value. We are grateful to our country's economic sector and the entire region for supporting us, along with our institutional partners, again this year. Without their support, none of this would have been possible."
