The reappearance of the Blue Tongue in Sardinia worries zoo-agricultural companies and representatives of the Italian Farmers' Confederation (Cia) are asking for the Region's intervention to stem the possibility of a new epidemic of the virus which would have disastrous effects at a local level.

«The new outbreaks of Blue Tongue that have hit Sardinian sheep farms have rekindled an alarm that unfortunately never subsided and are causing a lot of concern among farmers on the entire island», declare the leaders of Cia Sardegna.

Faced with this latest health emergency , Cia Agricoltori Sardegna expresses concern about the infections and asks the regional health department what procedures and strategies it intends to implement to intervene in farms affected by Blue Tongue and stop the spread of the virus.

«It is necessary to stem the spread of the virus and intervene against the harmful economic repercussions that a new Blue Tongue epidemic would have on livestock companies, just at the beginning of the period in which farmers reap the fruits of their hard work».
