The Region is working on providing refreshments to farmers who have seen their animals affected by the spread of the "blue tongue" virus.
The Regional Councilor for Agriculture Gabriella Murgia and the Councilor for Health Mario Nieddu met the representatives of the agricultural professional organizations to take stock of the situation relating to the blue tongue epidemic. Also present at the table are the heads of the experimental zooprophylactic institute. At the center of the summit, the methods to compensate for the damage for dead animals and for the loss of income resulting from the spread of the disease in the island's farms.
"The resources already identified in the department's budget - explains Villa Devoto - will be able to add further resources deriving from the proposals presented to the regional council in recent days (about 13 million euros). The resources available at the moment are certainly sufficient to cope with the recovery of the damages found so far ".
Murgia and Nieddu then ensured "the utmost speed in the disbursement of aid in compliance with current legislation", also recalling "the commitment made by veterinarians operating in the area".
