It thundered so much that it rained. In the end, Legabasket had to postpone the entire fourteenth and penultimate first leg of the top flight of basketball. Some matches had already been skipped, such as the one scheduled for Sunday 2 January at Palaserradimigni between Dinamo and Trento, due to the seven-day quarantine of the Sassari team (until Monday 3 January) due to the positivity found in some members of the team group, players and senior executives. Same fate for Venice-Varese and Tortona-Cremona.

The risk was that some matches would be postponed. Already the thirteenth round had seen the dispute of only two races out of the eight scheduled.

Legabasket motivated the decision as follows: "Considering the sudden exponential increase in infections from Covid-19 throughout the country that has involved and has been involving for a few days many companies in the Unipolsai Serie A Championship, and considered the primary objective of preserving always and in any case the health of all players, coaches, members of the medical and managerial staff, of all workers involved, as well as of the referees and table officials ".

At this point it becomes impossible to identify the best 8 at the end of the first round (January 9) to play the Italian Cup.

It is likely that Legabasket, in agreement with the federation, will postpone the calendar by at least a week in order to fix the recoveries, given that almost all the teams have missed two games.
