Polls open again, from this morning at 7, for the choice of the mayor of Monserrato.

Voting continues until 3pm, then counting will begin. The challenge in the runoff is between the outgoing mayor Tomaso Locci and Valentina Picciau.

In the first round two weeks ago Locci, supported by three lists - Monserrato Libera, Monserrato Futura, Monserrato Metropolitana - had obtained 40.2% of the preferences.

Valentina Picciau, supported by Movimento 5 Stelle, Progressisti-La Svolta, Pauli Monserrato, Uniti per Monserrato had stopped at 21.5%.

The turnout on the first day of voting was 37.74%, down nine points compared to the first round.
