The dream of the title fades for Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the doubles final at the Australian Open.

The Italian pair were beaten 7-6 (7/0), 7-5 by the 43-year-old Indian Rohan Bopanna and the Australian Matthew Ebden in an hour and 40 minutes of play.

Bolelli had won the title in Australia in 2015, paired with Fabio Fognini, the first Italians to win a doubles title in a slam tournament.

Today is the big day of the final challenge between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev, who will compete on the hard courts in Melbourne.
