We talk about heart diseases in the new episode of "15 minutes with ..." the in-depth talk on health of the University Hospital of Cagliari in collaboration with the Unione Sarda group , which will be broadcast live on Tuesday 24 at 5 pm on social network of the Aou of Cagliari (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube), on the website www.aoucagliari.it, on the Facebook page of the Unione Sarda and on www.unionesarda.it. On Wednesday, the readers of the Unione Sarda will find in-depth information on the “Salute” insert in the newspaper.
The guest of the column, conducted by the journalist Fabrizio Meloni , Head of Communication and External Relations of the Aou, will be Professor Roberta Montisci , director of Cardiology at the Duilio Casula Polyclinic.
Cardiovascular diseases are a group of diseases which include ischemic heart diseases , such as acute myocardial infarction and angina pectoris, and cerebrovascular diseases , such as ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. They represent the main causes of morbidity, disability and mortality in Italy.
Cardiovascular diseases still represent the main cause of death in our country , being responsible for 34.8% of all deaths (31.7% in males and 37.7% in females). In particular, according to Istat 2018 data, ischemic heart disease is responsible for 9.9% of all deaths (10.8% in males and 9% in females), while cerebrovascular accidents by 8.8% (7, 3% in males and 10.1% in females).
Cardiovascular diseases are largely preventable , as they recognize, alongside non-modifiable risk factors such as age, sex and familiarity, also modifiable factors related to behaviors and lifestyles such as smoking, alcohol abuse, poor nutrition and a sedentary lifestyle.
The talk "15 minutes with ..." is edited by Aou Cagliari News, the newspaper of the university hospital. Agile and simple format, it provides 15 minutes of question and answer with the specialists and the possibility for the public to ask questions live.
