Assemini, sickness during bike excursion: dies at 69 in front of friends

A bike ride with friends ended badly. 69-year-old Francesco Medda, from Assemini, felt ill and died under the watchful eye of two friends. The incident occurred yesterday in the “Casa dei cacciatori” area, in the Decimoputzu area. The man felt ill and collapsed to the ground. He seemed to have recovered, got back on the bike and then fell lifeless after about a hundred meters.

The companions immediately mobilized to provide first aid and alert the 118 paramedics. They arrived on site with the India nursing team from Decimomannu first and then with the helicopter rescue.

There was nothing that could be done for Medda. His relatives and friends were in shock: "He was a former colleague of mine and a great friend - commented Filippo Tuveri, president of "Mtb Assemini" - he had just recently undergone all the medical tests and was found fit for sports. We will miss him for his calmness and kindness of spirit".
