Dear Editorial Staff,
I would like to express through your newspaper my deepest gratitude to all those who saved my son Filippo's life.
On July 23rd, my fifteen-year-old son fell onto the rocks at Cala Moresca beach in Arbatax after suddenly fainting. We're from Bergamo, but our family has been coming to Arbatax for 45 years, and we've always felt part of this wonderful community, from which we've always received so much love and friendship.
That day, fate presented us with the most difficult test. Filippo fainted and fell without protection, hitting his head violently against the rocks and suffering a "sunken skull fracture."
Indescribable moments followed, which continued until his discharge from the Nuoro hospital on Thursday, August 7.
Filippo is alive by just a few centimeters, thanks to his youthful and athletic strength, but above all thanks to the timely intervention of the ambulance and air ambulance first responders who quickly transported him in critical condition to the hospital in Nuoro.
We will never forget—my wife, I, our daughter Giorgia, and of course Filippo—how many professionals in Nuoro worked with extraordinary expertise and profound humanity to save his life: the medical team led by Dr. Cappai with all his colleagues, all the nursing staff of the neurosurgery department, and the auxiliary staff.
Our thanks also go to all the rescuers who intervened on the beach and to all those who were close to us in these difficult moments.
This experience has shown us firsthand how precious the network of solidarity and professionalism that characterizes this area we love so much is.
Thank you so much to everyone.
