The flight suit jacket of Buzz Aldrin , the last survivor of the historic Apollo 11 mission to the moon, which departed on July 11, 1969 with Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins. This was announced by Sotheby's.

The white jacket, with the American flag, the logos of NASA and the Apollo 11 mission and the name “E. Aldrin ”, was part of a personal collection of objects that the 92-year-old astronaut decided to put up for sale.

"This exceptionally rare garment was contested by several bidders for nearly ten minutes before being sold to a buyer over the phone," reads a Sotheby's note .

"After careful reflection, it seemed to me the right time to share these objects with the world, which for many are symbols of a historical moment, but which for me have always remained personal memories of a life dedicated to science and exploration. ", has Aldrin.
