The opera Andrea Chènier returns to the Lirico di Cagliari after 15 years .

The historical drama in four scenes with a libretto by Luigi Illica and music by Umberto Giordano will enliven the stage of the Teatro in via S. Alenixedda from Friday 21 April at 8.30 pm (round A), on the occasion of the 2023 opera and ballet season. The staging , dated February 2019, is a co-production between the Modena Municipal Theater Foundation, the Piacenza Theaters Foundation, the Theaters of Reggio Emilia Foundation, the Ravenna Manifestations Foundation, the Teatro Regio di Parma Foundation, the Opéra de Toulon, and is signed, for the directed by Nicola Berloffa .

The artist, one of the most promising of his generation, has already worked in Cagliari (Orfeo ed Euridice, November 2021). The scenes are by Justin Arienti , the costumes by Edoardo Russo (who makes use of Marco Nateri as costume designer), the lights by Valerio Tiberi and the choreography by Luigia Frattaroli . Conducting the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Lirico is Donato Renzetti . The choir master is Giovanni Andreoli .

The two casts that alternate in the performances are composed of: Mikheil Sheshaberidze (21-23-26-28-30) in his debut in the role/Konstantin Kipiani (22-27-29) (Andrea Chénier), Devid Cecconi (21- 23-26-28-30)/Badral Chuluunbaatar (22-27-29) (Carlo Gérard), Oksana Dyka (21-23-26-28-30)/Irina Churilova (22-27-29) (Magdalene of Coigny ), Cristina Melis (The mulatta Bersi), Valentina Coletti (The Countess of Coigny), Antonella Colaianni (Madelon), Petar Naydenov (Roucher), Viktor Shevchenko (The novelist Pietro Fléville/Fouquier Tinville), Luciano Roberti (The sans-culotte Mathieu) , Mario Bolognesi (An "Incredible"), Orlando Polidoro (The Abbot), Alessandro Frabotta (Schmidt / The master of the house), Alessandro Carta (Dumas).

The opera has a total duration of approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes including the intermission. Andrea Chénier is repeated : Saturday 22 April at 7 pm (set G); Sunday 23 April at 5pm (round D); Wednesday 26 April at 8.30 pm (round B); Thursday 27 April at 7pm (set F); Friday 28 April at 8.30 pm (round C); Saturday 29 April at 5pm (round I); Sunday 30 April at 5pm (round E). There are also two appointments dedicated to schools, lasting 60 minutes: 2-3 May, at 11. The actor from Cagliari, Simeone Latini, performs the role of narrator.
