Three days entirely dedicated to contemporary short films, with an international focus and a focus on society: everything is ready in Quartu Sant'Elena for the sixth edition of the Moon Arts Film Festival , which will be held from 1 to 3 October at the Spazio Michelangelo Pira in Quartu Sant'Elena , in via Brigata Sassari 10. Thirty-five works are in competition, including numerous from abroad, with screenings, meetings with directors and actors, and awards ceremonies – including the Wassim al Kayim Humanity Award – all with free admission .

Organized by the association of the same name , which has been active in the cultural and audiovisual fields for over a decade with festivals, cultural activities, and international productions, including feature films, short films, music videos, albums, and commercials, the Festival also enjoys the support of the Municipality of Cagliari, under the artistic direction of Cagliari-born director and producer Marco Oppo . The works reached the finals after a selection process conducted in recent months, thanks to an international call for entries and dedicated platforms, with the promoters paying particular attention to social issues and the communicative power of the seventh art in making their selection.

Departure on Thursday 1st at 7pm , on an opening day that offers very different themes and languages: on stage from Germany " Between the Devil and the Blue Sea ", a work by Alasdair Jardine dedicated to migration in the Mediterranean and the sea as a space of danger and separation, and the Italians " Unicorns Fly Free " by Enza Lasalandra and " Scomodo " by Simone Guarany , in different perspectives on end of life and freedom of choice. Again, the grotesque satire of " Dumb Monkeys " by the Slovakians Patrik Klučár and Josef Fruni , followed by " Rotte " by Rocco Marino and " To Her " by Kevin Ngo , a French-Lebanese production that tells the story of memory, nostalgia and the relationship with one's roots, moving on to the female awareness with " La donna che non sapere volare ", a video clip by Sara Scarcello , and to the psychological, moral and family dimension with " Caro fratello " by Simone Paderi and " The Dots of a Case " by the Iranian Rana Sajjadi . Closing the first date, the films " Eliette's Garden ", an animation by the American Waverly Wang , " Zona Cesarini ", by the Iranian Maryam Rahimi on the sporting and existential concept of last-minute recovery, " Radici invisibili ", a documentary on the cultural, social and psychological roots of gender violence directed by Stefania Cugia , " Balloon Girl ", a story by Carmelo Bacchetta suspended between realism and fairy tale, " Barbed Wire ", an animated short by the Iranian Sepideh Eghbali on imprisonment, " Conspirosaurus ", a satirical reflection on conspiracy theories and the like by Axel Joly , and finally the thriller " Derrière la porte " by Leonardo Valenti , entirely shot with a smartphone.

Friday 2nd starts at 6.30pm , with many other Italian and international titles to present: first is " Portals ", an animated video clip by the American Nathania Rubin focusing on transition and inner journey, followed by the grotesque comedy on human fears " My last exorcism ", by Davide Eustacchi and Pierpaolo Fai , the mythological tones of " ΔΗΜΗΤΗΡ / Demeter " by Cate Kileva , the theme of the double and the dark part of the soul with " L'ombra ", by Maurizio Corda , and the black and paradoxical comedy of " Deeply Darkly Role " by the Iranian Mohamad Razazian . Continuing with " Behind the screen ", a reflection on the digital lives of Antonello Origa , " Ehi ma' ", a video clip by Paolo Lubinu on the island territory, " Far from the center (wandering song of a timeless DJ) ", a musical and anthropological journey by Roberto Pili , and " Grape Season ", a documentary on tradition, local communities and working the land by the Iranian Ebrahim Hesari , the second day ends with " Sbentiare " by Tiziana Troja , " Fuori sincrono " by Camilla Fosso – also filmed with a smartphone – and " Metamorefire ", by the German Christiane Meyer .

The screenings on Saturday 3rd , again from 6.30pm , close the circle: opening with " Selftape " by Laura Malnati , a new production filmed with a smartphone and focused on the vulnerabilities and obsessions of the acting world, continuing with the synchronicity of time in " Simultané " by the French Thomas Grascoeur , the memory and social conditioning of " Io non dimentico " by Antonello Murgia and " The Mould " by the Iranian Mohammad Reza Nourmandipour , the tragic kidnappings of the 1990s in " Il custode " by Ilenia Amoruso and the dark and surreal animation of " White Devil " by Walter Rasteli . And after the Portuguese production " 100 Miles " by Ian Truitner , an evocative video clip on the centenary of the birth of Miles Davis, we move on to the announcement of the winning works , the awards for the various sections and the Wassim Kayim Humanity Award for works of great expressive power and attention to social issues, dedicated to the memory of the Lebanese filmmaker of the same name and student at the University of Cagliari, who passed away prematurely.
