Huge crowd for the last farewell to Anna Laura Pilia, the 10-year-old girl who died in the waters of Arbatax.

The church of Sant'Andrea in Tortolì was packed, as was the churchyard and the surrounding area.

The coffin arrived at 10.55 from the mortuary of the Lanusei hospital.

The service lasted just over an hour. "Anna Laura was a treasure, now she is a star in God's firmament," said Don Piero Crobeddu in his homily.

The autopsy established that death occurred by drowning: the little girl remained trapped under the hull of the small boat on which she was taking a sailing lesson.

The Prosecutor's Office is working to establish whether all safety measures were respected and the timing of the rescue.
