They found themselves in difficulty in the waters of Santa Maria Navarrese due to engine failure and damage to the mainsail. This morning a crew of three people, including a minor, was rescued by the Arbatax Coast Guard which intervened with its personnel on duty on the patrol boat.

From an initial reconstruction of the events, due to sudden bad weather during the crossing, the vessel suffered engine failure and damage to the mainsail which interrupted both sailing and motor navigation with the risk of drifting onto the rocks. The request for assistance was accepted by the Circomare operations room which, under the coordination of the 13th Secondary Maritime Rescue Center of Cagliari, ordered the intervention of the Cp 811 patrol boat.

After an initial moment in which the conditions of the crew and the state of the unit were ascertained, the sailing boat was guided with the help of the patrol boat to the port of Santa Maria Navarrese. The crew was in good health. The Circomare personnel, under the command of Lieutenant Mattia Caniglia, acquired the first information to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident.
