Nurri, the former Galoppatoio area is on fire: helicopters and ground teams are in action.
The fire is fueled by the strong mistral windAfter a busy day yesterday, with Canadair aircraft and ground crews battling the fire in Nurri, since the early hours of this morning, helicopters and Forestry Corps personnel have been battling a fire that broke out near the former Galoppatoio. The flames, fueled by strong mistral winds, have been challenging firefighting teams coordinated by the Forestry Corps for hours.
The DOS (Director of Fire Extinguishing Operations), part of the Isili forestry patrol, is active on site and directs the operations of the ground vehicles deployed in the area.
The operations are particularly complex due to the extent of the fire, the morphology of the territory and the unfavorable weather conditions.
During the morning, given the criticality of the situation, support was requested from a Forestry Corps helicopter, which took off from the Villasalto operations base to reinforce the containment effort from above.
