Cagliari's tourist season kicks off with its sea. Three cruise ships will also be arriving during the America's Cup, scheduled for May 21st to 24th: approximately nine thousand additional tourists will be arriving in the city, already crowded with visitors for the preliminary regattas of the world's most important sailing competition.

The Sardinian Sea Port Authority's schedule of calls predicts the first ship to arrive on May 21st: the Disney Dream, the comic book ship with a capacity of between 2,500 and 4,000 passengers. On the 23rd, it will be the turn of the Queen Anne, a ship christened in Liverpool just two years ago with approximately 3,000 passengers. The following day will be the turn of the MSC Musica, a classic Sardinian stopover, with a capacity of over 2,500 passengers.

Tourists will have plenty of time to watch the challenges between Luna Rossa, New Zealand, and the other teams. They can also book one of the many boat tours to follow the sailing champions' maneuvers up close.

"The coincidence of three cruise ships with the America's Cup preliminary regatta represents not only unprecedented promotional potential for the Cagliari destination," explains Authority President Domenico Bagalá, "but also a concrete example of how it is possible to generate large numbers beyond the summer tourist season. It is a historic opportunity for the city and the port , and together with all the institutional and private entities involved, we are ready to face this pleasant challenge and to extend our warm welcome to everyone present."
