The Golden Collar for Sporting Merit attributed by Coni for 2020 goes to Cagliari. The official communication came through a letter sent by the president of the Italian National Olympic Committee, Giovanni Malagò, to the president of the club, Tommaso Giulini, and to the honorary president , Gigi Riva.

"The Golden Collar - reads the document - represents the highest sporting honor established by the Coni to recognize the highest sporting successes achieved by our athletes and also the sporting merits of centenary clubs or those sports managers who have dedicated an important part of their life at the service of sport ".

At the basis of the award, "the activity carried out and the merits acquired in a century of life" by Cagliari Calcio. "I express to you - Malagoli writes - the warmest compliments of Coni and mine for the well-deserved recognition that rewards the commitment and dedication to the development of Sport expressed by Cagliari Calcio".

"I would like to express the most sincere and heartfelt thanks in my name, the honorary president Luigi Riva and the whole Cagliari company for the recognition that CONI has agreed to grant us", replied Giulini. "It is a source of great honor and pride for us to receive the prestigious Gold Collar for Sporting Merit in the very year in which we celebrate, together with all the Rossoblu people, the first hundred years of our club's history, the team that represents a whole region ".
