Demonstrations in Minneapolis, police use tear gas

Protests after the killing of a 20-year-old African American

Protests continue in Minneapolis after police killed a 20-year-old African American and officers used tear gas to disperse crowds at the Brooklyn Center.

The scuffles broke out after news broke about the murder of Daunte Wright, who was shot dead by a policewoman, Kim Potter, a veteran of the local department (she has been on duty for almost 26 years).

A curfew is in effect in the city, a provision openly challenged by many citizens.

There appear to have been several arrests as well. And the controversy over the conduct of the police does not subside, heralding further demonstrations.
