The 54-year-old chief superintendent Giovanni Vivenzio of the San Ferdinando police station in Naples died, involved in a road accident that took place on 6 April in via Giordano Bruno in the Chiaia district.

Married and father of two daughters, that day Vivenzio was riding a Ducati driven by a colleague when the bike was hit by a car that did not respect the right of way. The two Hawks agents were on their way to the area where a suspicious runaway scooter had been reported.

The Minister of the Interior, Luciana Lamorgese, expressed her "profound condolences", expressing to her family and all the State Police "the feelings of moving and heartfelt participation in their pain".

"I would like to renew - declares the owner of the Interior Ministry - the appreciation and gratitude for the precious work done daily by the women and men of the police at the service of citizens, putting their lives at risk".
