Open Arms case, Matteo Salvini indicted

The former minister is responsible for the crimes of kidnapping and refusal of official documents

The gup of Palermo Lorenzo Jannelli has indicted the former Minister of the Interior Matteo Salvini.

He responds to kidnapping and refusal of official documents for having illegally prevented the ship of the Catalan NGO Open Arms, with 147 migrants rescued at sea, from docking in Lampedusa.

For days the refugees remained off the coast of the island.

"The defense of the homeland is a sacred duty of the citizen". Article 52 of the Constitution. Am I going to trial for this, for defending my country? I go there with my head held high, even in your name. Italy first. Always ": is Salvini's first comment, in a message on his social profiles.
