Fear in Amalfi: the ridge comes off, a large landslide on the state road
There seem to be no casualties or injuries at the moment
A large landslide hit the Amalfi state road this morning in the Municipality of Amalfi.
The landslide broke away from the rocky ridge that flanks the roadway and also involved a section below the Amalfi seafront.
"It will take hours to clear the area", the mayor's words.
Three families have already been evacuated from the homes overlooking the area. "At this moment - explains the mayor of Amalfi, Daniele Milano - we are about to intervene with mechanical means for the first scaling of the unstable elements, there is a piece of the wall in the balance that must be removed".
"At the moment there do not seem to be people injured or involved in the landslide - he continues - we have no evidence in this sense".
