Surprise: fewer and fewer foreign immigrants are staying in Sassari. The 2019 statistical report on the resident population in the Municipality shows a decisive reversal of the trend compared to 2015.

Suffice it to say that in 2015 2,195 immigrants arrived in Sassari and 695 were foreigners, that is to say almost 32%. The boom in 2017 with 2,445 immigrants and of these almost a thousand came from other countries. Well, in 2019 immigrants dropped to 1,898 and foreigners are just 365, that is 19% of the total. Two out of three foreigners fall into the range between 15 and 44 years.

In Sassari, foreigners are 4.4 percent of the population. As many as 115 different nations are represented, but the largest community remains that of Senegalese, which is close to 17%. The document shows that over half of immigrants in 2019 originate from the countries of the province, 41.8 percent of the total are Italian males, and the average age is between 30 and 44 years.

247 under 14s moved to the city in the same year, of which 37 were foreigners. So far the balance is positive, because in 2019 there were 1750 emigrants and mainly they moved to other centers in the Sassari province, but the number of those who leave Sassari is growing.
