The disservices that, as of this morning, have been affecting some Trenitalia and Rfi services are the result of a hacker attack.

According to what is learned from qualified sources, the ongoing attack is causing various problems in some stations, especially in ticketing systems.

According to Ferrovie this morning on the corporate computer network "elements were found that could lead to phenomena linked to a cryptolocker infection". It is a ransomware, which is a cyber threat that encrypts the data of the victim's computers and unlocks them only if a ransom is paid. Checks are currently underway.

The sale of tickets has been blocked both in the physical ticket offices and in the self-service stations in the stations, while online sales are operating.

"Passengers - explains the company - are authorized to board the train and present themselves to the conductor to purchase the ticket at no extra charge".

The recorded dysfunctions, on the other hand, do not impact on railway traffic which “proceeds with regularity”.

According to what leaks from qualified sources of Italian security, the type of attack and the modus operandi with which it was carried out would be attributable to Russian hackers.
